2021.01.22

(Seoul = Yonhap News) reporter Hong Ji-in = Naver announced on the 12th that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Continental Automotive Korea and DRIMAES to revitalize In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) services.

Naver introduced that IVI services only use apps on mobile devices even if hardware improves due to the difficulty of optimizing for individual vehicles. Still, web browsers have advantages of high versatility and compatibility. The three companies believe that this MOU will enable car sharing, food ordering, in-vehicle payment, restaurant reservation, and car washing.

Naver plans to develop and apply optimized web technology standards so that the web browser 'Whale' can provide services optimized for IVI. Continental Automotive Korea will provide various technical support for the development and actual application of mass-produced hardware, which is the basis of the IVI web platform. And while DRIMAES will be in charge of developing and supplying base platforms that can apply to various web services suitable for IVI devices.

Naver leader Kim Hyo, who leads Whale, said, "The web platform is a universal platform that can implement the services you want anywhere with displays and networks without additional effort and cost."
